This track that came from the cultural exchange between America and Africa and whose lyrics are composed by 4 languages: Ugandan, French, English and Spanish. “By Far” tells about different ways to appreciate women’s beauty.
For the music production, I decided to fuse afrobeat rhythms, melodies, and tempos, with cumbia elements and percussions, achieving an intercultural musical combination, which has two different perspectives, but share the same musical African root.
The original track is a collaboration between Monk.E y Zex Bilangilangi. Monk.E is a québécois rapper who has collaborated with projects like Lengualerta, Kendrick Lamar & Kaytranada. During his career, aside of functioning as a promoter of hip-hop culture in Montreal, Canada, Monk.E is a graffiti artist who has painted more than 1,000 pieces in more than 20 countries, from England and Uganda, to even Australia, Brazil, Cuba, USA, and Peru. Zex Bilangilangi, who is a singer and social activist from Uganda, also participates.
In this remix.
I invited Jah Fabio to collaborate to add a “Mex-touch” to the verses. Fabio is a reggae and dancehall vocalist from Guadalajara, who has participated in high caliber festivals such as Rototom, Sunsplash, Vibraciones de America and EDC, having shared the stage with Sizzla Kalonji, Alborosie, Gondwana, Los Cafres, and others.
Previously I’ve worked with him in diverse tracks. One of them was “Picadura de Avispa” remix, with Fidel Nadal and Kizumbiah.
